Five Things We Learned as Luton Shock League Leaders Stockport
Jack Wilshere’s Luton produced their most complete performance yet, sweeping aside League One leaders Stockport with an emphatic 3-0 win at Edgeley Park. It was a result that underlined how far this group has come in a short space of time, and how quickly belief is spreading through the squad.

Here are five things we learned from a statement victory that could be a turning point in Luton's season.
1. Wilshere’s vision is taking hold
When Jack Wilshere took over, Luton were searching for rhythm. Performances were uneven, the structure wasn’t quite there, and confidence was fragile. That picture looks different now.
At Stockport, Luton played with control, shape, and conviction. They managed pressure well, pressed with purpose, and looked calm in possession. The midfield dictated the tempo, the wide players created width, and there was a clear understanding of how Wilshere wants his side to play.
It takes time to build a new identity, but this was a sign that Luton are starting to find theirs.
2. Defensive discipline made the difference
Stockport began strongly, forcing Josh Keeley into early saves and looking dangerous on set pieces. But the defensive line held firm. Kal Naismith organised well from the back, Mads Andersen read the game smartly, and Teden Mengi covered space with pace and aggression
Keeley’s penalty save early in the second half was a defining moment. It kept Luton in control and lifted the team’s confidence. The back four stayed compact, limited clear chances, and showed a level of composure that had been missing earlier in the season.
It was a professional defensive display against one of the best attacking sides in the division.
3. Cohen Bramall’s attacking quality stood out

Cohen Bramall’s impact on this game was huge. He set up the opener with a clever low cross and then added the second with a superb curling free-kick from the edge of the box.
Beyond the goals, he provided an outlet down the left, supported play in midfield, and defended solidly when required. Bramall’s energy and precision were vital to Luton’s control of the game. His form in recent weeks has been one of the biggest positives since Wilshere’s arrival.
4. Jake Richards continues to mature quickly
At only 18, Jake Richards is proving why he is earning regular starts. His goal to make it 1-0 showed quick reactions and composure, but his all-round performance showed real maturity.
He linked midfield to attack, pressed intelligently, and showed bravery in possession. Richards looks like a player growing in confidence with every appearance. Wilshere’s faith in him is clear, and the young midfielder is repaying it with consistent, high-level performances.
5. Momentum and belief are building fast
This win was more than three points. It was a statement that Luton are moving in the right direction. They now sit ninth in League One on 22 points, six behind league leaders Stockport.
Since Wilshere took charge, the Hatters have played five matches across all competitions, winning four of them. The sequence reads: a 2-0 defeat to Mansfield, followed by wins against Northampton, Brighton, Forest Green, and now Stockport.

The improvement is clear. The football has purpose, the players are responding, and the connection between the team and the fans is growing stronger. Wilshere spoke about rebuilding that bond, and performances like this help make it real.
For a club that rose from non-league to the Premier League and then suffered back-to-back relegations to League One, this moment feels like another rebuild in motion. The difference this time is the sense of direction.
Luton played with identity, intensity, and belief. If they can sustain this level of performance, the climb back up the table is well within reach.
The Hatters look alive again.
