4 Luton Town players who could depart this summer as Nathan Jones admits a need for outgoings

Attempting to assemble a 25-man squad that is capable of competing at the top-end of the Championship next season, it remains to be seen how busy of a summer it will be for Luton Town manager Nathan Jones.

Alfie Doughty, Cauley Woodrow and Matt Macey have arrived at Kenilworth Road in the early stages of this summer, with Nathan Jones' latest talk with The Lutonian suggesting that there should be more to come.

Stating that the club are looking to bring in two midfielders, a defender, an attacker and another goalkeeper, the next few weeks could prove to be quite busy for the Bedfordshire club.

Whilst in conversation with The Lutonian, Jones indicated that a couple of players will have to depart as a consequence of the club's pursuit of strengthening for the new campaign. With that in mind, here are five current Hatters who could be moved on, either permanently on temporarily as the 2022/23 season edges closer to commencement...

Dion Pereira

An exciting winger, who thrived during his loan spell with Bradford City in the second half of last season, Dion Pereira will be eager to impress this summer.

However, with the attacking talent currently on display at Kenilworth Road, and last season's decision to operate with wing-backs instead of out-and-out wingers, he did not appear to be close to first-team football prior to his loan exit to League Two.

Likely to run the rule over him over the next few weeks, Luton may be looking for third-tier suitors to take Pereira on loan, with the hope of him forcing himself into the plans at Kenilworth Road in a year's time.

Elliot Thorpe

Another exciting talent whose next move might be a League One loan move, Elliot Thorpe will be watched closely during these next couple of weeks it would seem.

Impressing in an FA Cup game against Cambridge United back in February, the Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate possesses a lot of desirable attributes that would make him an excellent fit in League One.

As ever, the Hatters will be assessing possible destinations for a good fit if they are to sanction Thorpe's temporary departure.

Josh Neufville

Josh Neufville enjoyed a productive loan spell with Yeovil Town last time out, with his physicality, ability to link the play and pace causing chaos for National League defences.

Luton could now be assessing possible League Two destinations for the young forward, who has shown good levels of versatility in his short career thus far.

Jones admitted that Neufville has received a lot of interest already, with his immediate future yet to be determined.

Dan Potts

Dan Potts could be a permanent departure as the Hatters look to progress once again, with the left-back proving good levels of versatility last season, doing a steady job when called upon as a left-sided centre-back.

Should a suitable offer come in, then it would be no surprise to see the defender head for pastures new this summer. Being part of the journey from League Two to the Championship, Potts has proven to hold his own in the second-tier.

Certainly possessing the required abilities to operate at the top-end of League One, Potts could be a shrewd addition within England's third-tier.
