Elliot Anderson no longer primed for loan move to the Championship

Eddie Howe has confirmed that Elliot Anderson will not be allowed to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, with Anderson staying a part of the first team picture at Newcastle United for the remainder of the season.

Elliot Anderson, who has allegedly been a Luton Town target for the last 3 seasons, played 60 minutes in Newcastle Uniteds’ 2-1 loss to League 1 high flighers Sheffield Wednesday courtesy of a Josh Windass brace.

Now that Eddie Howe has confirmed Elliot Anderson is firmly part of the first team squad, it’s highly unlikely that a Championship loan will materialise and Anderson will be slowly integrated into the first team with more minutes, adding to his 97 minutes he currently has, in the second half of the Premier League season. It is likely that we will see more of the 20 year old Scot over the next few seasons in the Premier League, but not in the Championship.
