Luton Town confirm Matt Macey signing
Luton Town have welcomed goalkeeper Matt Macey back to Kenilworth Road ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 Championship campaign.
Nathan Jones has already added Alfie Doughty and Cauley Woodrow to the squad as he tries to assemble a squad that is capable of winning promotion to the Premier League.
Progressing through the academy ranks at Bristol Rovers and then Arsenal, the goalkeeper embarked on a month-long loan spell at Accrington Stanley in 2015, before joining the Hatters on a temporary deal in January 2017, under Nathan Jones' stewardship.
Featuring 11 times in League Two during the second half of the 2016/17 campaign, Macey conceded nine, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Arsenal sanctioned a further loan spell for the Bath-born shot-stopper during the 2018/19 campaign, with Macey joining Plymouth Argyle for their 2018/19 campaign.
Seeking a clearer route to regular first-team football, Macey headed north of the border to join Hibernian on a permanent deal in January 2021, playing in a deputy role to Ofir Marciano for what remained of the campaign.
However, he did play an integral role in the Scottish FA Cup as Hibs guided themselves to the final with Macey in-between the sticks, where they were edged to the Trophy by St Johnstone.
With Marciano heading for pastures new last summer, Macey spent the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership as a firm number one at Easter Road, finishing the normal campaign conceding 32 goals in 27 appearances, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.
