Luton Town January Transfer Tracker pt.1

Currently finding ourselves in the early stages of the January transfer window, it remains to be seen what kind of month we can expect at Luton Town.

Transfer gossip and done deals are already peaking in the Championship and the rest of the EFL, with some clubs looking to finalise their business as early as possible.

January proved to be a rather successful month for the Hatters last season with Kal Naismith and Elijah Adebayo penning down deals at Kenilworth Road.

Here, we take a look at any rumours or confirmed news regarding Luton in the run-up to the transfer window and in the early stages of this month…

IN: Elliot Anderson

In the concluding stages of the summer transfer window, Chronicle Live reported that we made a late move for Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson.

With no moving coming to fruition, the report stated that we could try again this January.

It appeared that Steve Bruce wanted to keep the midfielder sensation close to the first-team squad, but with Eddie Howe at the helm, and the seemingly endless possibilities that this window could present to the Magpies, Anderson could be allowed to temporarily depart.

The 19-year-old has appeared on the bench four times for Newcastle this season but has seen most of his continued success with the club’s U23s, scoring five times from six Premier League 2 appearances.

IN: Alex Pattison

Keeping on the theme of midfielders who possess attacking firepower, Football League World reported that we were one of five Championship clubs after Harrogate Town midfielder Alex Pattison.

The 24-year-old operates in an attacking midfielder position for the Sulphurties, proving to be one of the key reasons for their early-season success.

We would reportedly have to battle it out with Barnsley, Blackpool, Hull City and Swansea City for his signature, but given the fact that he has been less influential in recent weeks, it could be something that will drift away this January.

We will be able to get a better look at him this Sunday when Harrogate visit Kenilworth Road.

IN: Jack Clarke

Jack Clarke is a player who is highly rated at Tottenham Hotspur, but he is yet to enjoy a successful spell in the Championship.

The recently turned 21-year-old was linked with us back in November, as per a report from TEAMtalk, with Barnsley, Derby County and Millwall also holding an interest.

Clarke is a player with undoubted talent and an incredibly high ceiling, but a move for him would be seen as somewhat of a risk.

OUT: Dion Pereira

We start the outgoings with a move that has already happened.

Dion Pereira has joined Bradford City on loan until the end of the season, with the Bantams hoping to secure a play-off place as the season progresses.

It is certainly exciting to see Pereira earn a deserved move within the EFL and he could be a real asset to Derek Adams’ side.

The young winger enjoyed an excellent 15-minute spell against Stevenage earlier in the campaign and could thrive during his loan spell in Yorkshire.

OUT: Elijah Adebayo

There has been no concrete rumours linking Elijah Adebayo with a move away from Kenilworth Road, instead, Chronicle Live have reported that scouts were sent to watch our game against Fulham last month, titling a later article “Newcastle United scouting mission sees them run rule over 6ft 4in star striker.”

With that report emerging in mid-December, nothing else has emerged or come from that.

A large chunk of the transfer window remains, and given his meteoric rise to establishing himself as a threat in the Championship, it would be no surprise to see further interest.

I think we can all be united here and say that we would not like him to go, and for the purposes of his continued development, Luton is perhaps the best option for him right now.
