Luton Town transfer and rumour tracker: McJannet to Serie A? Barnsley swap deal, Josh Key

Starting very slowly, the January transfer window has certainly picked up pace from a Luton Town perspective.

Heading into Deadline Day and it appears that it could be a busy day for the Hatters, and that is even before considering the Cardiff City fixture.

Here, is a round-up of all the latest headlines concerning the Hatters ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline…

Serie A interest in starlet

Italian club Sassuolo have tabled a bid for Luton Town midfielder Ed McJannet, as per a report from Football Insider.

The 19-year-old, who has recently returned from a lengthy injury, signed his first professional deal with the Hatters a couple of years ago, however, he is yet to appear at first-team level.

McJannet has been training with the first team under Rob Edwards’ watchful eye in recent weeks as it remains to be seen what kind of stance the Bedfordshire club hold.

Barnsley goalkeeper swap

There could be a change around in the goalkeeping department and it would not be a Luton Town transfer window without a mention of Barnsley.

The Hatters are reportedly looking to sign Barnsley’s Jack Walton, whilst that could pave the way for the Tykes to sign Harry Isted in return.

Walton has long been Barnsley’s second-choice shot-stopper but is still just 24 years of age.

Isted, 25, has managed to work himself back up to the bench at Championship level this season, displacing Matt Macey as number two before his move to Portsmouth came to fruition.

Josh Key interest

Luton hold an interest in Exeter City defender Josh Key going into Deadline Day, as reported by Football Insider.

A right-back by trade, the versatile 24-year-old has been tasked with operating as a right-sided centre-back, a left winger and a number 10 this season.

The report states that Luton have made an approach to sign the young defender after Swansea City saw a bid knocked back.
