Morris, Horvath, Hourihane: Luton Town transfer and rumour tracker

With Luton Town now in Slovenia to carry on their pre-season preparations, Nathan Jones is set to ramp up the intensity on the training pitch.

Luton's summer business has also seemingly ramped up its intensity over the last few days, with the Hatters chief looking to complete his business as swiftly as possible.

The Hatters played their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Friday evening, with Alfie Doughty, Cauley Woodrow and Matt Macey all featuring, whilst the likes of Josh Williams, Elliot Thorpe, Casey Pettit and Dion Pereira were handed opportunities.

Here is the latest summary of Luton's transfer movements from the last few days...

IN: Louie Watson

Arriving as signing number four, free agent Louie Watson penned down a deal at Kenilworth Road, following his release from Derby County.

The exciting 21-year-old, who featured in the Championship within the first team set up last season and in Premier League 2 with the club's U23s, was one of 16 Derby players to see their contract expire by the end of last month.

Assessing what to expect in a statistical overview of his 2021/22 performance, Watson's progressive abilities stand out majorly.

IN: Ethan Horvath

On Saturday morning, Ethan Horvath became the club's fifth summer signing, with the 27-year-old joining the Hatters on a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest.

Hoping to feature regularly with the World Cup around the corner, the USA international will be competing with Matt Macey for a regular starting spot at Kenilworth Road.

Addressing the goalkeeping department was a priority when the last season came to its conclusion, with James Shea out for the unforeseeable future. With Horvath and Macey joining, and with Harry Isted still in the mix, it is safe to say that Jones can put a tick next to the first item on that priority list.

IN: Luke Freeman

Luke Freeman is the latest player to become a Hatter, joining the Bedfordshire club after seeing his Sheffield United contract expire.

Seeing his progress hindered by injuries last time out, Luton were interested in making a move for the 30-year-old back in January, however, it was Millwall who won that particular race.

Arriving on a permanent deal, Jones has seemingly filled the left-footed midfielder option that he has been after.

POTENTIAL IN: Baba Fernandes

Thrown into the starting XI at Hitchin on Friday evening, Baba Fernandes is evidently a player that Jones is considering to bolster his defensive options.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on trial with the Hatters, appeared in a right-sided centre-back role, proving to be an athletic option for Jones to continue considering.

Jones recently admitted to Luton Today that he is still looking at bringing in a defender ahead of the new campaign.

POTENTIAL IN: Jack Rudoni

Jack Rudoni has been linked with a move to Kenilworth Road already this summer, however, local outlet to AFC Wimbledon, South London Press, have started to acknowledge Luton as a potential destination for the exciting midfielder.

Scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in League One last season, the left-footed midfielder proved to be a top performer for the Dons.

Sunderland and Huddersfield Town have seen bids rejected for the young midfielder, as it remains to be seen if Luton will table an offer, especially when considering the arrival of Freeman.

POTENTIAL IN: Carlton Morris

Already adding a Barnsley forward in Cauley Woodrow to the ranks, it appears that the Hatters could raid the Tykes once again.

As per a Tweet from The Telegraph's Mike McGrath, Luton are chasing 26-year-old Carlton Morris, with a £2 million fee being quoted.

A sum of money that would represent breaking the club's transfer record, it will be interesting to see if this materialises into a done deal.

POTENTIAL IN: Conor Hourihane

Since Kieran Dewsbury-Hall's Leicester City return, Jones has been after a left-footed midfielder, with creative abilities, who could fill the void somewhat.

Conor Hourihane is the latest left-footed midfielder who has been linked with a move to Luton, as per a report from Mail Online, with Huddersfield Town and Derby County also in pursuit.

With Freeman fitting a similar profile, it is likely that Hourihane was just one name on a list of targets.
