Newcastle United starlet Elliot Anderson linked to Luton Town once again

For the third straight season Luton Town have been linked to Elliot Anderson. The midfielder who has just two starts for Newcastle United under his belt, in the League Cup against Crystal Palace and Tranmere Rovers, and a handful of Premier League minutes under his belt from substitute appearances, has been linked to the Hatters, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday for the second half of the season, to grab him experience at the highest level possible. Anderson is highly rated by Eddie Howe, and he was a key component in the Bristol Rovers League 2 promotion campaign last season. Notching 7 goals, 6 assists and creating 39 chances from midfield.

However, the fourth-tier may have been a step to low for him on the ladder, although it guaranteed him gametime, which he may not have been achieved in the Championship last season had he joined Luton Town. Last season when Nathan Jones missed out on Elliot Anderson, it was indicated that the Hatters were interested in a permanent signing with Newcastle insistent on Anderson only being available for a loan. Nathan Jones said about Anderson: “We’re an admirer of Elliot Anderson, but what we need to bring in now was someone that was going to improve our 11. If there’s no opportunity of us ever buying him then it’s very difficult bringing him in on loan." However, Rob Edwards may be more inclined to pursue a loan deal for Anderson, as it was well documented how Nathan Jones preferred to avoid loan signings without their being an option in place for a permanent deal. If we were to pursue a loan signing for Elliot Anderson this season, will he improve our first 11 this time around? Where does he fit into our team? Shouldn’t we be looking to bring in defenders on loan instead? At ORH, we will be watching this story as it develops.
