Who will start for Luton Town against Liverpool?
Date: Sunday 5th November 2023
Kick-off: 4:30pM (GMT)
Venue: Kenilworth Road
For this week's Oak Road Hatter team prediction we KO as the Sky Sports 'headline' game on Sunday afternoon. We take on the challenge posed by one of English football's giants, Liverpool, which is sure to be a lively affair. Following on from last week's rather tepid display at Aston Villa, I'm sure we're all hoping for more attacking threat.
Team News and Oak Road Hatters Predicted XI:
Injury news: Andersen, Bell, Berry, Burke, Clark, Lokonga, Potts.
Thomas Kaminski starts in goal after a massively impressive performance against Aston Villa. The magnificent double-save from Watkins earned him a save of the month nomination, vote for Thomas here!
We have opted for a back four of Osho (RB), Mengi (RCB), Lockyer (LCB), and Doughty (LB). It is a bit of a makeshift backline due to the injuries we currently have. We know Edwards is keen on a more defensive-minded RB when playing a four, Burke against Tottenham for example and this is why Kabore drops out. The other three speak for themselves.
Into the midfield now and we have a double pivot of Nakamba (DM) and Pelly (DM), ahead of these two is Barkley (AM). It was an uncommon off day for Marvelous against his old club last week but of course, he retains his place, joining him is Pelly who impressed in his short cameo last week, and against Liverpool, his defensive nous will be needed. Barkley put in an excellent performance against Villa, at times looking a class above his teammates.
The front three has some adjustments, a point that has sparked debate amongst the Luton fanbase this week. Andros Townsend (RW) comes in for Jacob Brown who has not impressed in recent weeks, this being one of the key talking points. The other major talking point was whether Morris (ST) drops out for Adebayo, we don't think he does and starts. Of course, on the other side of Morris is the incredible Ogbene (LW).
Starting XI: Kaminski, Osho, Mengi, Lockyer, Doughty, Nakamba, Pelly, Barkley, Townsend, Morris, Ogbene.
