Luton Town transfer tracker: Cameron Humphreys, Jack Rudoni, Elijah Adebayo

Targeting a seventh successive season of improving our position on the Football League pyramid, the 2022/23 campaign promises to be yet another exciting one for us Luton Town fans.

Speaking to Luton Today after our season came to an end at Huddersfield Town, Nathan Jones was quick to point out that the recruitment process was set to commence immediately.

With that in mind, we take a look at some of the transfer rumours that have surfaced since the closing of the January transfer window to where we are now…

IN: Cameron Humphreys

A Mail Online report from late March credited us with an interest in 23-year-old Zulte Waregem central defender Cameron Humprhreys.

We were one of four named clubs currently in pursuit, with Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers also mentioned in the initial report.

The former England U19 international progressed through the academy ranks at Manchester City, heading for pastures new in belgium in 2019.

With his contract set to expire next month, it remains to be seen exactly how much interest there will be in him.

IN: Jack Rudoni

Another player who we have been linked with, who is also on the radar of several clubs going into the summer is AFC Wimbledon attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni.

The 20-year-old, who has been linked with a move to us in a report from TEAMtalk, is a target at around half the current teams in the Championship, whilst Leeds United and Wolves have also been scouting him.

Netting 12 League One goals in 41 third-tier outings, providing a further five assists, the young midfielder was a bright spark in an otherwise unispring campaign for the relegated Dons.

IN: Matt Ingram

Following his emergency spell with us, a Football Insider report has credited us with interest in a permanent move for Matt Ingram.

The report states that Preston North End are also in pursuit, however, a further article has claimed that this is not the case.

Hull triggered a 12-month extension on his contract last week, meaning that the Hatters would have to fork out a fee for his services.

The goalkeeping department is an area of the pitch that is likely to be strengthened this summer, with James Shea out for the foreseeable future.

OUT: Kal Naismith

Football League World claimed back in early March that Kal Naismith is the subject of interest from a whole host of ambitious divisional counterparts, including Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom.

The report also stated that there was Premier League interest, however, the two top-tier clubs named, Burnley and Norwich City, have suffered relegation to the Championship.

You would think that it would only be a Premier League move that would tempt Naismith away from Kenilworth Road, and not just any old top-tier move.

OUT: Elijah Adebayo

Elijah Adebayo has enjoyed an excellent debut season leading the line for us, adapting to regular football in the Championship seamlessly.

Proving to be a real weapon for us in a season where we have played more direct, Adebayo chipped in with 16 league goals in 40 Championship outings.

Football league World reported back at the end of March that Burnley, Huddersfield Town and West Brom were all monitoring the towering front man.

Like Naismith, there is little point of Adebayo moving within the Championship, given the upward trajectory he has embarked on with us, and with the direction our club is heading in.

Given that Adebayo was a target at Huddersfield before we brought him to Kenilworth Road, the Terriers might be poised to make a move if they secure a Premier League return, although, we are likely to demand a hefty fee.
