Opposition View: Sky Blue Fans TV

The Hatters head to the West Midlands on Tuesday with the aim of bouncing back for the weekend's defeat on Teesside. Ahead of the game, we spoke to Mark Smith, of Sky Blue Fans TV, to get the Coventry perspective...

Tell us a bit about your Sky Blues supporting background…

I started supporting the Sky Blues when I was 5. I’m not from Coventry but my reason for supporting the Sky Blues was that as a child I used to read Football programmes and remember seeing the Sky Blue kit and loved and that day on I fell in love with Coventry City!

Coventry have followed Luton’s trajectory in recent seasons and, in your second season since your return to this level, are flirting with the playoffs. What’s the general feeling amongst the Coventry fan base on how this season is going?

Overall, it’s been a fantastic season and we have surpassed expectations. The football we have played has been sublime but we need to improve our finishing and overall quality in the final third. That said, the performances for the most part has been excellent.

Mark Robins, much like Nathan Jones at Luton, is a huge part of Coventry’s rise up the leagues. How do you feel Mark is adapting to the Championship, and what do you think Coventry can achieve under him?

Mark Robins has performed miracles for us. The signings since promotion have helped us perform to a decent standard this season. Simon Moore has been a massive signing for us, very agile in goal. Gyorkeres has scored goals and led the line well. We need a second number 10 to help out O’Hare but finding the right player is hard. Would liked Jamie Paterson but Swansea offered more money. We can achieve the play offs providing we keep the core squad and add quality to it.

After a summer shake-up, January was a much quieter transfer window, leaving the Coventry squad relatively unchanged from the game at Kenilworth Road. Who are the “Ones to Watch” for Coventry when Luton make their trip to the West Midlands on Tuesday?

I’d say Callum O’Hare if fit can cause problems. He runs well at opposition players, wins fouls and creates chances. Viktor Gyökeres for his general hold up play and finishing. Gustavo Hamer for his creativity and finishing

Luton shocked a confident Coventry side last September with a rampant 5-0 win at Kenilworth Road, a win that seemingly kick-started the Hatters’ season. What have you made of Luton this season?

Luton like ourselves have exceeded expectations. They generally play a high press game and are physical. I think on their day Luton can take points off anyone and are always a threat going forward, so will expect a tough match on Tuesday.

Time for some predictions - who do you think will (i) get automatic promotion, (ii) make the playoffs, and (iii) get relegated.

Automatic Fulham and Bournemouth.

Play offs Huddersfield, QPR, Forest, Sheffield United

Relegation Derby, Barnsley and Peterborough

Finally, give us your score prediction for Tuesday’s game…

1-1
