Championship player set for Luton Town medical, as new seven-figure fee emerges

Luton Town are edging closer to completing the signing of Birmingham City attacker Tahith Chong.

According to an update on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (13:30), the 23-year-old is set to undergo a medical at The Brache as the Hatters continue preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The update has also revealed that personal terms have been agreed with the former Manchester United attacker, whilst it has also been suggested that the fee will be around the £4 million mark.

Should Chong go on to sign for the Hatters, for the fee that has been reported, he would arrive as the club's record transfer, meaning Mads Andersen would have only held that title for less than a month.

Luton's interest in Chong first surfaced around a month ago, with a report from Football Insider revealing interest from the Premier League newcomers.

A winger by trade but also more than competent when operating in an attacking midfield role netted four goals and provided a further five assists in 38 appearances for the Blues last time out, in what was his first season at the club on a permanent deal.

Birmingham secured the services of the Dutchman for £1.5 million last summer, with Chong penning down a deal that is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

Luton have welcomed two fresh faces to Kenilworth Road thus far, in Chiedozie Ogbene and Mads Andersen, with it growing more and more likely that Chong will be the next player to join the Hatters in their Premier League journey.
