Luton Town set to battle Sunderland and Preston for Everton talent

Luton Town are interested in making a summer move for Everton striker Tom Cannon, as revealed in a Patreon report by journalist Alan Nixon.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Preston North End, is also wanted by his former temporary employers, whilst Sunderland are reportedly preparing a £3 million bid for the exciting forward.

As detailed in the report, Everton are prepared to sell players this summer, however, it remains to be seen what kind of stance they will take in regards to the academy graduate's immediate future.

Cannon enjoyed a productive loan stint with the Lilywhites last time out, scoring eight goals and providing a further assist in 20 Championship appearances, whilst there is believed to still be lots of loan interest in the Republic of Ireland youth international.

Cannon arrived at Deepdale for the second half of last season, following an impressive start to the Premier League 2 season where he scored seven and provided an assist in 11 matches for the Merseyside club's u21s.

The 20-year-old has also been tested in the first-team environment and has been handed two opportunities from the bench at Premier League level.

The Hatters have already bolstered their forward line options with the addition of Chiedozie Ogbene on a free transfer this summer but are reportedly keen on a talent that has an incredibly high ceiling.

It would be interesting to see what the immediate plan would be if Cannon was to arrive at Kenilworth Road this summer and if he was deemed ready for Luton's Premier League campaign, or if a loan move would be on the cards.
